Carrie Underwood recently confessed to fans on her website that there was more to the story when in comes to her Nov. 10 fall, which her rep originally said resulted in “non-life-threatening injuries, including a broken wrist and cuts and abrasions.”
Two months after that statement, in an end of the year post to her website, the singer admitted the fall
also left her with severe facial injuries that required between
40 and 50 stitches.
She wrote: “there is also another part of the story that I haven’t been ready to talk about, since I have still been living it and there has been much uncertainty as to how things will end up.”
“When I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different.”
The surprise confession set off a whirlwind of speculation online. Some suggested that the singer may have underwent a secret plastic surgery while others wondered if the 34-year-old was covering up evidence of a domestic dispute.
As fans may recall, reports circulated that she and Mike Fisher’s seven-year relationship was on the rocks around the same time the pro-hockey player announced his retirement. At the time sources said, “Carrie urged Mike in no uncertain terms to hang up his skates, in a dramatic attempt to get more together time to mend their troubled relationship.”

The American Idol alum’s subsequent social media hiatus following the mysterious incident only heightened suspicion as Carrie only posted one picture on Instagram in the first seven weeks following her accident. The photo pictured her wearing a scarf that almost completely obscured her face, only leaving her eyes visible.
And while her statement that fans may not recognize her implied that she looked horribly disfigured, The Before He Cheats singer was photographed only a month after the incident on Dec. 12, where she was pictured alongside Below Deck star Adrienne Gang after bumping into one another at the gym and appeared to look like a usual self.
When asked about Carrie’s appearance, Adrienne said, “I didn’t notice anything amiss on her face. Simply, she looked lovely. She was extremely friendly and gracious.”
But despite Adrienne gushing over her looks, sources say that the accident has left the star feeling low on confidence.
“Carrie has been having nightmares. She hates looking in the mirror,” said a source. Adding, it “was an emotional roller coaster for her. She’s felt like she was losing it. She’s a total wreck.”
“She’s been so secretive, it’s turned into this huge guessing game,” spilled the Carrie insider. “There’s so much intrigue.”
