Shahs of Sunset star Mercedes “MJ” Javid went down a long road to get pregnant. The 46-year-old went through several rounds of IVF with husband Tommy Feight and worried that she might never get pregnant. Last year, she was overjoyed to find out she was carrying a baby boy. But when she gave birth on April 17, it was anything but a dream come true. According to Tommy, MJ was in surgery for five hours and almost died. Tommy, 47, posted a video update on
Instagram on April 18, after news broke of baby Shams’ birth. “Pinch me,” he wrote in the caption. “If you find someone else happier than me, they’re lying.”

But he told fans about MJ’s harrowing experience in the delivery room. “My wife had a ton of complications,” he said, giving doctors credit for their “life-saving” help.

“She was in surgery for like five hours. They didn't tell me nothing. But they're amazing at Cedars. They saved a life,” he said.

“She's still in ICU. She still hasn't held her baby yet,” the Shahs of Sunset star said of his wife. “[Shams], on the other hand, is looking great. He couldn't be happier.”

“They have him in a tanning bed now with glasses on, no joke,” he quipped. “A day old and already in a tanning bed. He couldn't be more like his mother if he tried. She went spray tanning before we went to the hospital!”

He also said he was honored to name his son Shams, after MJ’s late father. The baby’s middle name is in honor of Tommy’s late mom, Francis.

Thankfully, MJ eventually did get to hold baby Shams. Tommy posted a photo of her cradling her son in her arms and made a long Game of Thrones joke in the caption. He wrote, “Daenerys of the House Javid, the First of Her Name, The Cerclaged, Queen of the Spray Tans, the Shahs and the First Men, Queen of Beverly, Khaleesi of the Great Cedar Sinai, Protector of the Realm, Lady Regent of the Seven Shopping Centers, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons.”
