Nick Carter Makes A Bizarre Statement After Arrest Scandal — Find Out His Excuse

The 36-year-old opened up to Access Hollywood about his January 2016 arrest.

As Star previously reported, Nick was arrested on Jan. 13 and charged with one misdemeanor count of battery after an alleged fight at the Hog's Breath Saloon in Key West, Fla. The bar's bouncer, Skyler Carden, is suing the Backstreet Boys band member over the incident as well.

He told the TV show that the arrest was a wakeup call for him, saying, "we are all human. We act that way sometimes."

"But for me, it's always about learning from my mistakes and learning from things that might not necessarily be mistakes and little hiccups and things that can happen in life," the Dancing With the Stars alum added. "I'm very aware of everything going on around me and know what I have to do to the best that I can be."

It was announced on April 4 that Florida prosecutors will dismiss his case in six months if he completes 25 hours of community service and pays the $298 court-related fees.

But for now, Nick and his wife Lauren Kitt are expecting their first child — a boy — to arrive any day now!

Nick revealed that he hopes becoming a father "will turn [him] into a better person and man that [he is]" after the incident.
