Kim Kardashian is opening up about her journey with psoriasis. Earlier this year, she posted photos of the red, flaky spots she gets all over her body as a result of the chronic, autoimmune disease. In a new blog post for sister Kourtney’s blog Poosh, she explained how she manages it now — and how it led to a terrifying lupus test.
Kim, 38, explained that she always new mom Kris Jenner had psoriasis, but she didn’t experience her first flare-up until she was 25. It was triggered by a bout she had with a common cold. Her dermatologist gave her a cortisone shot, and that made it go away for about five years.
Eight years ago, she began what she called her “real psoriasis journey.” She attended the store opening for DASH in downtown Manhattan, wearing a sequin dress. When her skin started itching, she assumed it was a reaction to the material.

“I had psoriatic arthritis. It’s similar to arthritis that can stem from psoriasis and it can come and go. It’s still painful and scary, but I was happy to have a diagnosis,” she wrote.

Kim explained that though she’s tried every treatment she can find, she’s yet to find something that effectively and consistently handles her psoriasis.
