Jessica Simpson was mommy shamed for dying her five-year-old daughter Maxwell’s hair.
The 37-year-old singer posted a picture of her family in their Halloween costumes on her Instagram account, with her husband Eric Johnson dressed up a Willie Nelson, their son Ace as a cowboy and her daughter dressed as Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
Fans were quick to notice that Maxi’s naturally blonde hair was now brown.
“Why would you color your daughter’s hair at such a young age?” one person wrote.
Others, however, defended the pop star, pointing out that a temporary dye or spray-in color could have been used to achieve the darker hair color. “Y’all need to relax about Maxwell’s hair. She didn’t dye her hair,” another said. “You can see her blond hair in her braid if you look close.”
The singer has yet to respond to the criticism but, a week after the festive holiday, the mother-of-two shared a picture of daughter where it was clear that her blond hair had returned and whatever dye that was used was washed out.
However this isn’t the first time the singer has come under fire for the pictures she decides to post of her daughter, with fans accusing her of sexualizing Maxi over the summer after she shared a flick of the minor in a pink and blue bikini. The photo was later deleted.
