Deborah, 60, confessed that once at the Oscars, her zipper burst. “I had to stand on the red carpet, mostly with my back to everybody,” she said.

But she didn’t seriously decide to try to lose weight until she spoke to her doctor. “My father had every cardiology issue known to man and [the doctor] said, ‘You can't outrun your genetics,’” she recalled.

She also had elevated blood pressure, though a “little bit of medication” is what brought that down.

Eventually, her doc suggested she cut out all sugar in her diet.

“I figured this would not be a big challenge,” Deborah confessed. “Then I started reading labels. ... You realize how many products have extra sugar. What I have decided was if it ends in ‘ose,’ it's gross, don't eat it, don't drink it.” Of course, the host couldn’t actually cut out all sugar from her diet, since most fruits and vegetables contain at least some sugar.
