It’s not the first time
Kim Kardashian has been accused of “cultural appropriation,” and despite being married to rapper
Kanye West and having three children of mixed race, fans still feel that the reality star robs the black culture of their hair styles, fashion trends and even the shape of their bodies.
Remember the term “boxer braids” ? A few years ago Kim and her sister started wearing their hair in braids—a style predominantly worn by blacks and at one time categorized as unprofessional, but when the KUWTK clan started rocking this hairdo it became popular and transcended into mainstream fashion. At the time many felt that this was wrong, starting with calling the style the wrong name—“boxer braids” as the accurate name is “cornrows.”
And now fans are “peeved” again after Kim took to snap chat to debut her new look, which featured her platinum blonde hair braided into a cornrow style, but which she referred to as “Bo Derek” braids a reference to the actress’ role in a 1979 film,10.
The problem is the 37-year-old credits the wrong person for her style inspo and many fans deemed it to be another incident of culture appropriation.

“Kim K got braids like these. And gave credit to Bo Derek for the style. Am I wrong for being bothered. Because I’m super bothered. That’s who tf you give credit for for that style !? Seriously.”
“Kim Kardashian on snap talking about some Bo Derek braids. Kim they are called CORN ROWS,” one fan wrote.
“First of all, f*** you @KimKardashian for wearing cornrows and calling them "Boderrick braids". Second of call f*** you again for crediting the creation of "boderrick braids" to a white woman who was culturally appropriating cornrows to begin with,” said another.

“Kim Kardashian should have learned by now how to properly deal with black culture and considering she has three black kids this behavior is disturbing.”
In the past Kim has also been
called out for black face when she debuted her KKW makeup line, as the images she put out were extremely dark and over edited.
