EXCLUSIVE: Shocking New Photos of RHOBH Kim Richards' Trashed Home Before She Entered Rehab

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kim Richards took up residence in a $4,000-a-month, five-bedroom, three-bathroom property in the San Fernando Valley. But within those walls, the troubled former child star ran riot, trashing the place beyond recognition and then abandoning it when she could apparently no longer afford the rent.

"The damage is terrible —stains all over, piles of destroyed furniture — not to mention the smell, since she let her dog pee and poop inside and didn't clean up after him."

Kim had a dressing area most women would kill for — and the clothes to fill it. But after a disastrous trip to Mexico in May, she packed up her belongings and left the rented house a filthy wreck. "She just didn't care," an insider tells Star.

Kim ruined thousands of dollars of patio furniture alone. "It's going to take so much to fix the house," says a source. "But Kim doesn't have any money to pay for the damage."

Obtained exclusively by Star, these sad photos show just how deeply disturbed the alcoholic Kim had been prior to her downward spiral last spring, which included an arrest for public intoxication and battery on a police officer and led to her current visit to rehab.

With the outraged landlord keeping her security deposit and holding her responsible for extensive repairs that Kim, 50, will be hard-pressed to pay, she may be forced to reach out to sister and RHOBH costar Kyle Richards — or even her half sister, Kathy Hilton — to come to her aid.

Her issues go back to her controlling stage mom and two unhappy marriages that ended in divorce. Kim had found true love with fiancé businessman John J. Collett, but he was tragically shot to death in 1991 while he and Kim were on the phone. Though she had enough money to finance the lavish lifestyle that landed her on RHOBH, Kim was haunted by her traumatic past; her alcohol abuse worsened and a 2012 stint in rehab failed.

"Kim could barely take care of herself, let alone a house. She'd drink all day and pass out," says a saddened pal. "The place was a disgusting wreck, overrun with cockroaches, but Kim refused to hire a maid. She was so paranoid about her drinking, she didn't want anyone to find out how bad it was."

On April 16, after imbibing heavily at the Polo Lounge, an inebriated Kim was asked to leave the elite Beverly Hills watering hole. Police were ultimately called to remove her, and in the ensuing fracas and arrest she allegedly attacked a cop. She was released on $20,000 bail and reentered rehab but fell off the wagon again in May, at her eldest daughter Brooke's wedding in Mexico. Kim made such a spectacle of herself that Brooke is no longer speaking to her — and the "sober coach" she'd hired quit.

Once again detoxing in Malibu, Kim appears to be doing well, but she'll have to pay for havoc she wrought and find a new place to live. "Neither Kyle nor Kathy want her living with them, though, so as soon as she gets out of rehab she's going to be facing another every difficult situation," adds the insider.
