EXCLUSIVE: Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner's Emotional Last Meeting Before Divorce Announcement

In May 2014, Star reported that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner's marriage was in trouble, as Jen could no longer trust Ben after rumors of his affairs emerged and he was kicked out of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for counting cards at blackjack.

So on June 20, Ben sat in one of his family's favorite haunts, L.A.'s Tavern Restaurant, wearing a wrinkled track suit and a scruffy beard. "He looked like hadn't slept in days," says an eyewitness. Soon, his wife joined him, but she didn't come alone; her parents also joined their daughter at the table.

"He sat there staring into space while Jen did all the talking," says the witness. "He was acting as though Jen had told him to 'behave himself.' Everyone else ordered food, but Ben had nothing but water, and he hardly even drank that." Later, the insider dishes that the stranger-like couple left in separate cars without kissing each other goodbye.

The next day, moving trucks were spotted outside Ben and Jen's home. The day after that, Jen, 43, flew out of LAX, ditching her husband and the dad of her three children on Father's Day.

On June 30, the announcement came from Ben, 42, and Jen's publicists issued a joint statement: "After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce," it read. "We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to coparenting our children, whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time."

The couple announced their divorce a day after their 10-year anniversary. The beaming pair back in 2005 had an intimate, romantic wedding on the beach in Turks and Caicos conducted by Jen's former Alias costar Victor Garber.

Most recently, while Jennifer was out of town working, he ditched his daddy duties to fly to Las Vegas, where he's often spotted at high-stakes poker, pai gow and baccarat tables making bets in excess of $100,000!

"He was bored and wanted to have a sexier lifestyle than she could offer him," explains a source, who adds that the couple hadn't had sex in a year. "He found her Goody Two-Shoes, perfect mom facade frustrating, and he fell out of love." His irritation especially grew while filming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. "He was concerned that fans would think he would fail as Batman, so he was laser-focused," says an insider. "He became dark and angry, and he would snap at Jen. After a while he stopped taking her calls."

Now post-divorce announcement, Ben will keep living on the same property they share in Pacific Palisades, Calif., albeit in the guesthouse. "He'll be a part of their lives because Jen has a big heart, but she'll be the main caregiver," explains a source. "It's an odd arrangement, but one Jen is willing to make for the sake of her children."
