Former Dream singer
Melissa Schuman filed a police report against
Nick Carter with the Santa Monica Police Department on Wednesday.
“Filing the police report today was the single most empowering thing I have ever done for myself," Melissa, 33, told ET. "I thought it was an option I could no longer pursue. A huge thank you to RAINN (the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network) for empowering me to take this step."

She confirmed the news via Twitter, writing, “I’m finally doing what I thought I could no longer do. I’m filing a police report
#timesup #bebrave #bethechange #metoo thank you
@RAINN for empowering me to take this step.”
Nick Carter has denied the allegations that were initially made in Melissa’s blog post back in November.
"Melissa never expressed to me while we were together or at any time since that anything we did was not consensual," Nick said.
"We went on to record a song and perform together, and I was always respectful and supportive of Melissa both personally and professionally. This is the first that I am hearing about these accusations, nearly two decades later. It is contrary to my nature and everything I hold dear to intentionally cause someone discomfort or harm."
