“You don't have to agree with trump but the mob can't make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone,” the rapper Tweeted. “I don't agree with everything anyone does. That's what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought.”
That tweet along with others in regards to his political stance was followed by a clarification directed by damage control in the form of
Kim Kardashian. It read: “My wife just called me and she wanted me to make this clear to everyone. I don’t agree with everything Trump does. I don’t agree 100% with anyone but myself.”
Kim wasn’t the only one to get involved. Chance The Rapper, another Chicago native jumped into the conversation once it transitioned to Yeezy’s quest to end violence in Chicago.
“Black people don’t have to be democrats,” Chance tweeted.
Yeezy went on to announce that he and Chance plan to build new homes in Chicago, which was followed by a tweet that called out someone else who is from the Chi town—former President Barak Obama. “Obama was in office for eight years and nothing in Chicago changed,” Kanye wrote.
Politics proved to divide the hip-hop community as fans and celebrities, including
John Legend called the rapper out for abandoning the person who memorably once said, “Bush doesn’t care about black people.”
“I love that great, brilliant artists have the power to imagine a better future. But artists can’t be blind to the truth,” John tweeted. “The defining trait of Trump’s campaign and political profile was his embrace of white supremacy. He made it clear every time he spoke,” he added. “Some serious cognitive dissonance to ignore that for the other x% you might find appealing. I guess I agree with >1% of anyone’s thoughts though.”
Despite the differing opinions, a friend close to Kanye say the rapper is unfazed. “He’s actually not as upset as you’d think about what’s being said,” the friend said. “He just thinks that no one gets his genius.”
“He hated the word erratic, but he likes to say that genius is erratic,” the friend adds, referencing the term a different source close to West used to describe him. “You can’t be a genius if you’re not erratic in some way. So it’s not wrong, but he thinks it’s more than being erratic.”
Nonetheless it looks like the public will soon understand the genius behind the madness. Power105.1 radio host, Charlamagne tha God assured fans that they should wait on developing an opinion on Ye and that their interview will answer all the “whys.”
And according to Kanye, fans can expect a million dollar sit down. “The Charlamagne interview just got an offer on 10 million. Yo @Cthagod should we hold off for a hundred million??? Jay Virgil Obama Trump and Mental Health. Just a few things that were discussed. Charlamagne the new Oprah,” Kanye teased.
