Charlie Sheen finally came clean about his HIV positive diagnosis with Matt Lauer on Nov. 17, but that doesn’t mean he’s out of the woods just yet.

His doctor, Robert Huizenga, confirmed that the virus is undetectable in Sheen's blood due to his strong antiretroviral regimen, but the actor will never be HIV-negative.

“Charlie has contracted the HIV virus,” Huizenga said. “He was immediately put on treatment strong antiretroviral drugs that have suppressed the virus... He is absolutely healthy.”

“Individuals who are optimally treated, who have undetectable viral loads, who responsibly use protection have … a very very low [possibility of transmitting the virus],” he added, meaning that if Charlie goes on another bender and misses a dose of his medication, he would be putting his sexual partners at risk.

“We’re petrified about Charlie,” Huizenga said. “We’re so so anxious that if he was overly depressed or if he was abusing substances he would forget these pills.”
