Following the incident the pop star told fans via her website that she “
might look a bit different,” when she gets back in front of the camera, but when she made her appearance at the 2018 ACM Awards on Sunday fans felt that she looked the same.
That night Carrie performed her new single “Cry Pretty” from her new album set to be released in September, and on Thursday the singer sat down for her first interview since the incident where she shared the details on the accident.
“I was taking the dogs out to go pee-pee one last time, and I just — I tripped,” she said on The Bobby Bones Show. “There was one step, and I didn’t let go of the leashes! Priorities! So that’s why my left hand’s fine. But I went to catch myself and I just missed a step.”
Adding, “If I had fallen anywhere else, I would have been perfectly fine. But it was one step that messed everything up.”
Fortunately Carrie was left with minimal damage. "I've been very fortunate in the healing process," she said on the show.
"I was lucky that when it happened, everything was kind of shutting down in the music world and we had the holidays and stuff like that. I was at a point where I didn't know how things were going to end up. I didn't know what was going to go on. I didn't know what it was going to heal like."
