EXCLUSIVE: Ben Affleck's Secret Bachelor Pad That Jennifer Garner Didn't Know Existed—PHOTOS

Even though Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner announced their divorce on June 30, Ben already had a bachelor pad set up in Brentwood, CA, for over a year, where he could have absolute privacy. But his wife never knew it existed.

"He goes there when Jennifer is out of town," a source tells Star.

"He has to be hiding this property really well, because rent on the penthouse in the building is $6,000 a month," says the insider. "It's amazing that Jennifer hasn't asked where the money has gone!" Eyewitnesses have seen him coming and going "at least a half a dozen times" in the past 12 months.

Ben was often snapped at the gas station just around the corner from his secret bachelor pad.

"He goes [to his bachelor pad] at odd hours and is always careful to be alone," explains the insider, which is how the Gone Girl actor has managed to avoid the paparazzi's attention. "If he so much as suspects a photographer is following him, he'll either pose for a picture, hoping they leave him alone, or does a quick 180 and switches directions."

A family source told Star that Ben stopped fighting for his marriage. And from the sounds of it, the insider also dishes that Ben has reverted back to his old ways—drinking and gambling.

"After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and freindship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be a respected during this difficult time," the celebrity couple reportedly announced on June 30.
