Ben took major backlash earlier this summer for more than being unavailable for his family, but for also getting a little too cozy with the couple's former nanny, Christine. "She doesn't see anything wrong with what she's done," a source explains, adding that Christine is planning an explosive tell-all about her affair with Ben.

But while Ben had his fun with the 28-year-old former fling, he must have realized there was something wrong with their closeness, and now the Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice actor reportedly broke off all relations with Christine.

Christine didn't take the news too well, either. Perhaps it's no big surprise, then, that Christine not-so-secretly hoped to be Ben's next girlfriend and not just a down-and-dirty fling.

But Ben looks to have realized over the last couple of months that what him and Jen have is love—not just a good time like he was having with Christine.

Their relationship has been improving—if not rekindling—as a result of the intensive joint therapy sessions they've been undergoing ever since they decided to divorce.

"They initially entered therapy to learn how to keep things amicable between them and to figure out how to keep coparenting effectively after the breakup," an insider explains.

"But the process has been a revelation for them. They each realized that they'd been engaged in some toxic behaviors that ultimately led to the breakdown of their marriage," adds the tipster.

Ben, for his part, "has promised to cut back on his drinking and gambling for the sake of their children. He also admitted that he works too much," says the source.

And Ben wasn't the only one apologizing or making promises. Jen, the insider says, "admitted that she can be judgmental and harsh in the way she speaks to Ben, especially when they're fighting. And she's been making a real effort to be direct with him now when she wants something, instead of her usual passive-aggressiveness."

But their honesty isn't the only thing that might mend their marriage back together—Jen might be expecting again! "Something is definitely going on," the insider notes. "She keeps saying how exhausted she is, and she's told a few very close friends that the only other times she's experienced this kind of fatigue were the early stages of her pregnancies," says the source.

"But no one is sure if she's confirmed it with a pregnancy test, much less told Ben, because she's so secretive," the insider continues.

Even if she hasn't, though, the insider is confident that Jen's estranged husband would step up to the plate. Their mid-August liaison doesn't seem to have been just a case of casual "ex sex;" they've been getting along so well, they've reportedly been reconsidering their decision to call it quits at all.
