Wasting Away! Anna Faris 'Making Excuses For Not Eating'—Find Out Why

Though their reps deny the couple are experiencing any trouble, "Anna looks tired and emaciated, and she's lost her spark," says a source. "She's making excuses for not eating. It's got people worrying."

No longer was Anna cooking the "big, fattening meals" (as she put it) she loved to make for Chris, who would eat "all of mine and the rest of hers" (as he put it). No longer, Chris revealed, was he feeling "impotent, fatigued, emotionally depressed."

And while all of this may sound like a good thing, it's given Chris a new female fan base, and "Anna doesn't like the way girls hang on him," says an insider. "She liked him bigger, when women didn't lust after him. Her confidence is crumbling as Chris' skyrockets." And when Guardians and Chris' next film, Jurassic World, ranked in billions, Anna, who's currently on CBS sitcom Mom, saw disturbing echos of the stresses that soured her first marriage, to actor Ben Indra. 

"Ben couldn't handle Anna's sucess," the source says of that couple, who split in 2007. "Now Anna's scared that Chris' instant fame is going to ruin them. He's taking off in a big way, and she doesn't want to get left behind. She's feeling incredibly insecure."

Distance only makes the worries worse. Chris is often away filming—he's been shooting The Magnificent Seven in Lousiana—and Anna isn't used to spending this much time apart from him," says a source. "Chris doesn't have a lot of time to call her, and she's an emotional wreck, constantly wondering what he's up to."

So Anna, who once took the lead in many aspects of her relationship with Chris—even ordering for him in restaurants—is exerting control where she can: by obsessing about her weight. This spring she revealed a pin-thin bikini body while on vacation in Hawaii, and observers noted she looked frail while promoting the new season of Mom. 

"There's definitely concerns that she has issues with eating," says an insider. "People are begging her to take care of herself, but she just laughs it off."

As for Chris, "he knows that she is shrinking," the source adds, "and friends are telling him that he needs to be more present. As it is, he goes out of his way to reassure her that there's nothing to worry about in their relationship. But she's still miserable, and he's getting tired of having to make her feel better every time they are together."

All this stress has not gone unnoticed, with Anna calling rumors of marital discord "devastating" and "weirdly stinging." In the past, "she would have ignored the chatter," says the insider. 

"But now she's panicking that the whole world thinks her marriage is failing. She's spending more time working on what to tell people than she is actually fixing any issues in the relationship. It's sad, but Anna feels out of control in every aspect of her life right now," says the source.
