Al Roker is apologizing. The Today show weatherman and his team of meteorologists made a major mistake yesterday, failing to correctly predict a severe snowstorm that hit the northeast, causing tons of traffic, terrible delays, and keeping some people from getting home all night.

“Here’s the deal. Mea culpa. Our bad,” Al said as began his
broadcast this morning.

He explained in technical terms why their forecast was wrong. “We thought that the depth of the cold air aloft wasn’t that deep. It was, and the storm slowed up, which overproduced.”

There ended up being 1,300 miles of storm, dropping record snow in 13 states. New York had its biggest November snowfall in 136 years, while Philadelphia and Washington, DC had their biggest in 29.

On Twitter, Al was a little less conciliatory. Someone tweeted, “So let me get this straight Al Roker didn't give viewers accurate weather information with all that doppler radar satellite bulls—t and he still has a job?” Al
replied, “Yep!! Is this a great country or what?”

Al warned that snow is still falling in New England and that the entire northeast will experience high winds all day. He must have been upset by his flub, but, all things considered, it's not
