This year's BET Awards were far from scandal-free!  

Justin Timberlake caused  a social media uproar when a seemingly innocent tweet complimenting Jesse Williams' Black Lives Matter speech caused fans to explode over his comment!  

"@iJesseWilliams tho...#Inspired #BET2016," his message read, but people weren't impressed. Many called him a hypocrite for seemingly supporting Jesse's cause, after he abandoned his co-singer Janet Jackson during her nip slip scandal at their infamous Super Bowl performance years before.  

Beyonce emerged on stage surrounded by an army of dancers and performed "Freedom," one of the singers latest hits from her controversial album "Lemonade."  

Jamie Foxx paid tribute to late boxing legend Muhammad Ali,  and was followed by the fallen athlete's daughter, Laila Ali who commemorated her dad with a heartfelt speech. “My father Muhammad Ali lived his life with conviction and purpose. He is known the world over as the greatest athlete of all time, a man who fearlessly faced opposition both in and out of the ring,” she said teary-eyed.  

“But to me and my eight sisters and brothers, he was just dad. As his youngest daughter, I can tell that he also was a loving, gentle, and principled man,” she stated, after which she apologized for becoming emotional.  

Pop icon Prince was also far from forgotten. Multiple artists that included comedian Dave Chapelle, and Jennifer Hudson to name a few, honored the "purple Rain" legend during the awards ceremony.
