Patrick Ball Emotionally Recalls Paying Off $80,000 in Student Loans Thanks to Role on ‘The Pitt’
Patrick Ball went from working a coffee shop and $80K in student debt to starring on HBO’s The Pitt — and paid off his loans three months into filming.
How relatable! Things were tough when Patrick Ball was cast as Dr. Frank Langdon on the HBO hit The Pitt.
The 36-year-old was hustling. “I was working at a coffee shop, I was working at a restaurant, I was working as a wardrobe assistant for And Just Like That…,” he told Cultured magazine, adding that he even had a corporate gig posing as an employee to help execs learn how to fire people!

All that changed when he scrubbed into the ER. Getting emotional, Patrick admitted he was carrying $80K in student debt at the time. “I paid off my student loans like three months into The Pitt,” he revealed, adding that it was a profound moment since he thought he’d be in debt forever. “I remember being like, man, if this show works, great. If it doesn’t work, they can’t take that away from me. I am out of debt. No take-backsies on that!”
