Megyn Kelly is sharing more of her thoughts on Jimmy Kimmel’s “Alternative White House Correspondents’ Dinner” monologue that had First Lady Melania Trump very upset.
During the Tuesday, April 28, episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, the 55-year-old political commentator sounded off on how ABC is handling Kimmel’s recent comments, which included calling President Donald Trump’s wife, 56, an “expectant widow.”
Kelly pointed to how ABC handled Bachelor Nation host Chris Harrison’s controversial comments in 2021, when he appeared to defend photos of contestant Rachael Kirkconnell attending an “Old South” ball in 2018.
“He was making a perfectly valid point,” Kelly said, pointing to how Harrison said “we are not looking [at things] under the same lens” as the culture did in 2018 when the photos were taken.

After Harrison’s comments went viral, the longtime host stepped down from the series before it was eventually announced that he would not return. “He was forced to self-flagellate in the most humiliating display by ABC Entertainment,” Kelly said.
Kelly said she feels the network’s “standards have changed very much” before playing a clip of Harrison going on ABC’s Good Morning America to apologize for his statements and say he was “shocked at how insensitive I was.”
Kelly ripped into ABC, stating, “Oh my God, that’s the same network that is now apparently fine with, ‘She’s got the glow of an expectant widow.’ That’s fine. That’s no problem.”
“Chris Harrison was fired from his job of two decades,” Kelly claimed. “His career has never recovered because those assholes so besmirched him as some sort of a racist, but you get a total pass if you are a comedian making jokes…at the president’s expense, or that of the first lady.”
“I believe we must make them play by their own rules,” she continued of ABC. “Those rules don’t get bent when the party who’s been targeted and offended is a Republican victim, as opposed to one of the Democrats favorite people or causes.”

While no action has seemingly been taken following Kimmel’s recent monologue, the network previously suspended the late-night host following his comments regarding the murder of right-wing political activist Charlie Kirk. The suspension sparked a debate on Kimmel’s right to freedom of speech before he returned to air in September 2025.
In Kimmel’s monologue late last week, he took “a page from the Kid Rock alternative [Super Bowl] halftime show” to “do some of the jokes a comedian might do if our president wasn’t a trembling drama queen who’s scared of comedy.”
Kimmel, who has long been outspoken of his disdain for the 79-year-old president and his administration, ripped into the first family.
Melania shared a post to X on Monday condemning the late-night host, saying, “Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country.”
“Enough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand,” the former model declared, calling upon the network behind Jimmy Kimmel Live!. “How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community.”
