Judging from the season 5 part 2 trailer for Yellowstone, Kevin Costner’s John Dutton is alive, well and as powerhungry as ever. But the 69-year-old famously cut ties with the sprawling western amid creative differences with creator Taylor Sheridan. Now sources tell Star that Kevin is fuming that he’s all over the promos despite making the break. “He feels the producers are using him to sell their show when he’s not even in the new episodes,” reveals an insider. “He thinks it’s not only annoying, but also misleading to viewers.”

The producers know what they’re doing featuring the Oscar winner — whose spat with Sheridan began when Kevin asked for a shortened schedule to work on his passion project Horizon: An American Saga. “Kevin’s still a major draw,” explains the insider, adding that he’s miffed about their “sneaky” behavior. “The fact is, they had Kevin, but they weren’t willing to negotiate,” notes the source. “They basically fired him and now they’re leeching off his star power. It just seems wrong to him.”
