The “Since U Been Gone” singer, 44, showed off a dramatically shorter look while performing at Providence College’s annual Late Night Madness event over the weekend in Rhode Island, trading in her signature brown locks for a bold, blonde bob.
“No extensions. I chopped my hair off recently!” Clarkson announced during the September 21 episode. “I like it short.”
Fans took to the comment section of a photo from the interview that Clarkson shared on Instagram from the interview to weigh in on the hair transformation.
“She’s in her “short hair don’t care” era! š«°š¼š«°š¼š«°š¼,” one fan wrote, with another commenting, “Okay Bob!!!”
“Short hair Kelly is backkkkkš„š„š„š„š„š„ šļø,” another excited fan wrote.

There were a few fans who weren’t as enthused, however, with some taking to X after Clarkson appeared on the Today show that same day, where they balked at the hair change.
“WHAT THE HELL WAS GOING ON?” one user questioned on X. Another commenter compared it to a typical “mom haircut, writing, “It looks like her grey hair grew out. She looks older.”
A third fan slammed it as a “terrible hairstyle and color,” while another echoed similar sentiment, claiming it looked like “her hair dye was exposed to chlorine.”

For those missing her longer hair, Clarkson is still rocking her old ‘do on season 30 of The Voice, which is currently airing but was taped before her makeover.
The new look comes just months after Clarkson’s eponymous talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, aired its final episode, following a seven-season run, and marks the first time in almost two decades that Clarkson has sported a shorter ‘do.
In fact, one of the last times Clarkson’s hair was this short was in 2006, when the musician rocked a honey blonde, chin-length bob at the Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Awards Party, ahead of her first-ever Grammy win.
And though it’s been a while since she’s gone for a shorter look, it sounds like she’s not giving this one up anytime soon.
