Citing worries about “being bullied” and needing to protect his mental health, the 45-year-old skipped appearances on CBS Mornings and Today Jan. 20, leaving CBS cohost Gayle King to ask Jeremiah Brent, Jonathan Van Ness, Tan France and Antoni Porowski to comment. “Families are complicated, and we’re definitely not excluded from that,” food and wine expert Antoni offered, while styling pro Jonathan said he was “proud” of Karamo for putting himself first.

It’s not the first time the cast’s dynamic has caused speculation. In 2024, original home expert Bobby Berk opened up about leaving the show, confirming tension between him and Tan. “It was something personal that had been brewing,” he said of the fashion expert, per Vanity Fair. “And nothing romantic, just to clarify that!”
