JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes have officially confirmed their romance.

The announcement puts an end to months of speculation surrounding their close bond since their appearance on Celebrity Big Brother UK.

“It’s not platonic anymore, and it’s been a beautiful development, a beautiful connection, and I’m absolutely head over heels for him and he’s the same way,” the 22-year-old Dance Moms alum told The Guardian on Monday, June 2.

Siwa and Hughes first met as contestants on Celebrity Big Brother UK, where their undeniable chemistry became a frequent topic of discussion. At the start of the reality series in April, Siwa identified as a lesbian and was in a relationship with Australian actor Kath Ebbs, who identifies as non-binary.

Siwa and Ebbs announced their separation shortly after CBB concluded. Despite their split, Siwa and Hughes denied any link between the breakup and their burgeoning connection. They continued to share PDA-filled photos and videos on social media, while publicly maintaining they were just friends.

Siwa acknowledged the persistent rumors suggesting her closeness with Hughes was a “PR stunt,” with accusations of playing to the cameras surfacing even before  CBB ended. She adamantly refuted these claims. “We’re not faking a thing,” Siwa stated, emphasizing their “very genuine connection.”

She added that even her family has noticed a significant increase in her happiness.

“Clearly, you’ve never been around us,” Siwa told The Guardian. “I won’t ever speak for him, but for me personally, the happiness in my life just radiates off of me right now. Literally yesterday, I was massaging my cheeks; I’ve never [before] been in pain from smiling so much.”

Siwa’s comments follow recent social media posts from Hughes, including photos on his Instagram Stories featuring him with Siwa’s parents, Jessalynn and Tom. On Sunday, June 1, Hughes also shared a photo on Snapchat of himself shirtless in bed, kissing Siwa’s forehead, with the caption, “Sleeepinnn beauty.”

Reflecting on their intimacy, Siwa told The Guardian, “You know when you’re alone, how you feel? You are your true, raw self. I’ve obviously felt like that before, but never around one single person.”
