Jennifer Aniston‘s boyfriend is getting candid about his darkest days.
On Wednesday, September 2, the A-lister, 57, sat beside Jim Curtis, 50, at the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan to celebrate the launch of Curtis’ new book, The Book of Possibility, where he opened up about how spinal cord lesions discovered at age 22 became “an ultimate low,” according to a September 3 People report.

Curtis recalled the harrowing ER visit that led to his diagnosis. After 13 hours of waiting through severe pain, a doctor finally delivered the news: spinal cord lesions that had caused chronic nerve damage and partial paralysis. The hypnotist recalled feeling his body “freeze and seize up” as he searched Google for answers, per the outlet.
Rather than let the diagnosis define him, the life coach said he chose to transform his life.
“If someone said to you, ‘I’m at this crossroads, and I am stuck, and I’m in this rat race of a life, and I’m fully invested, but I know that’s not my calling,'” The Morning Showstar asked him, according to People. “‘My soul, my heart is screaming to do something else.’ How would you help coach someone through that?”
Curtis admitted that he’s not an advocate of “drop everything and leave.”
“But I will say this: you don’t have to let fear stop you from living your dream,” he added. “You can manifest at any time by placing your focus on the outcomes that you want.”

As Star previously reported, the Friends star and Curtis, who were first connected by mutual pals in July 2025, made their relationship Instagram-official that November, when she called him “cherished” in a birthday tribute.
