Jenna Bush Hager Says Disney’s ‘Cinderella’ Led to Her Kids Thinking She ‘Was Going to Die’

Jenna Bush Hager’s daughters may have walked away from Disney’s princess movies with the wrong message. The Today cohost revealed that her kids believed she was going to die, likely due to the ill-fated parents seen in so many of Disney’s animated films.

During the Monday, November 24, episode of Today, guest Andy Cohen said that he wished Disney’s Cinderella featured more of the titular character and less of her mouse sidekicks.

“It’s 52 minutes of cat and mouse play. I want more of the evil stepsisters and Cinderella glamming up and less of the cat and mice,” Cohen, 57, explained.

In the 1950 classic, Cinderella’s mother dies and her father remarries Lady Tremaine. However, shortly after they wed, he passes away as well, leaving Cinderella orphaned and forced to live with her evil stepmother and stepsisters.

“When my kids were little, my girls would watch so many of those things that they just assumed I was going to die,” Hager, 44, replied.

The mom of three continued, “Mila came to work here, and Donna, adorable Donna who works here, she came up to Donna and goes, ‘When my mom dies, will you be my stepmother?’ It’s dark!”

Hager shares daughters Mila, 12, and Poppy, 10, along with son Hal, 7, with husband Henry Hager.
