Viewers tuning into season 3 of Ginny & Georgia might notice that Diesel La Torraca, who plays Austin Miller, looks a lot more grown-up than last season.

The child star, 14, addressed his noticeable growth spurt in an interview with Teen Vogue, published Thursday, June 5.

“I’ve definitely gotten much taller, and I look much older in the face,” the Australian actor told the publication.

La Torraca, who is now taller than costar Antonia Gentry (who plays his older sister Ginny), explained that the cast and crew don’t mind his growth.

“Honestly, we kind of ignore it a little bit! It’s kind of just like… there’s a 14-year-old sitting at the table with Harry Potter glasses on that’s supposed to be nine. And that’s okay!” he told the outlet. “In some shots I did have to bend my knees a little bit to look a little shorter than Toni, or they got her an apple box a few times, but for the most part we’ve kind of just kept the show running.”

However, La Torraca shared that there are challenges to playing a much younger character as he matures.

“I’ve grown with him, but I’ve also kind of departed from him because I was eight when we started, now I’m 14,” he said. “There are a lot of differences in the way that he would move and act and speak. I have to heighten my voice register, slouch a little bit [to] feel like I’m actually a shy, insecure nine-year-old.”

Season 3 of the hit young adult comedy-drama premiered on Thursday, June 5, on Netflix. It didn’t take long before fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to joke about how much La Torraca had aged since season 2, despite the new season picking up just a few days later in the storyline.

“I’m watching Ginny and Georgia season 3 and there is NO WAY Austin is still supposed to be 9 that is a whole senior citizen,” one fan posted on the app.

Another wrote, “bro i’m watching ginny and georgia and the way austin aged in a WEEKEND is crazy s**t.”

“ginny and georgia got me weak rn. it’s been two days since georgia got arrested and austin suddenly a grown a** man,” a third person commented.

La Torraca has taken the fan reactions in stride, making multiple TikTok videos joking about himself portraying a kid as a teenager.

In one TikTok — which has amassed over 12 million views at the time of publication — La Torraca shrugs his shoulders and looks to the side alongside the text “Me tryna convince ppl that Austin is still 9 🥀.”
