It’s about to be a tale of two cities! After 10 years of marriage, George and Amal Clooney will attempt a long-distance relationship. Next spring, the Oscar winner will be making his Broadway debut in Good Night, and Good Luck, based on the 2005 film about newsman Edward R. Murrow that the 63-year-old directed and cowrote.

George couldn’t turn down the chance to star in the stage production, saying he was “honored” to be a part of “the art form and the venue that every actor aspires to.” But an insider says the actor worried about uprooting his 7-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander, from their lives in the UK — hence the transatlantic plan.

“They’re going to try the long-distance thing when he’s in New York for six months,” says the insider, adding that it will be a test of their relationship, since Amal’s work as a human rights lawyer requires her to be primarily in Europe. Still, says the insider, “she’ll fly in with the kids for the occasional weekend.”
