Ellen DeGeneres Wants to ‘Rebuild Her TV Empire’ Following Toxic Workplace Scandal
“I was kicked out of show business,” Ellen DeGeneres famously said in her Netflix stand-up special last year. The former “Be Kind” queen, who was brought low by a toxic workplace scandal at her self-titled talk show, then decamped to rural England with her wife, Portia de Rossi, 52.
There, the veteran house flippers renovated an $18 million property in the Cotswolds, which they’ve now put on the market for $30 million. The 67-year-old explained they now need facilities for Portia’s beloved horses, “and a pasture for them,” confirming their move to the U.K. is permanent, per The Wall Street Journal.
Yet an insider tells Star the comic would leap at a chance to return to U.S. television, despite being “kicked out” of showbiz.
“It may seem delusional, but she really believes she can jump-start her career,” says the source, adding that the Louisiana native has been reaching out to old friends, including Jennifer Aniston and Kris Jenner. “She’s ready to go again and rebuild her TV empire.”
