‘Duck Dynasty’ Star Faces Backlash Over ‘Backhanded’ Pregnancy Announcement for 18-Year-Old Daughter

Duck Dynasty alum Jessica Robertson is going to be a grandmother again – but some fans didn’t approve of the way she announced her daughter’s pregnancy.

“Me & Jep are excited to welcome another new grandbaby in October. Priscilla will give birth to our granddaughter & we are blessed to add another grandbaby,” Jessica wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of the 18-year-old cradling her baby bump. “This isn’t the plans we had laid out for Priscilla but God takes our meager offerings and turns them into His greatest blessings!”

“We are so proud that Priscilla & Dillon chose life for their baby and we will all be rewarded with this precious baby girl!” she continued. “We pray blessings on her pregnancy & ask God for a safe delivery for Mom & Baby. We praise God for His perfect gifts! Pray for us! 3 babies under 1!”

Followers swiftly took to the comments section to call out the reality star’s seemingly shady wording.

One person replied, “Ugh the disappointment she must feel when her own mom adds in: ‘this isn’t the plans we had for [Priscilla]….’”

Added another,, “Such an odd way to announce a pregnancy. Extremely backhanded.”

Other fans pointed out that Jessica and Jep shared the news of their married 20-year-old daughter Merritt’s pregnancy before Priscilla’s.

“Sad her sister’s pregnancy was announced before hers, when clearly she was pregnant first,” one commenter said. “I hope she knows she’s just as valid as her sister.”

However, some followers jumped to the family’s defense.

“Congratulations to your Family. I don’t see any ‘shaming’ in your post,” a supportive fan wrote in the comments. “This is very well and respectfully said and rightfully so for a mother to speak in regard to her own daughter.”

Another person claimed that Jessica was “simply stating facts and celebrating the joy” of the new baby with her post.

Elsewhere in the comments section, other members of the Robertson family ignored the hate and chimed in with their own well wishes for the soon-to-be mom of one.

Korie Robertson, 51, who is married to Willie, 53, called Priscilla “beautiful” and said she was “so excited for another sweet baby girl in the fam.”

Korie and Willie’s three daughters also voiced their love and happiness after the exciting news.

Rebecca penned, “Love y’all and she is gonna be an amazing mama!” as Bella said she “can’t wait to meet this precious baby girl!!!!” Sadie added, “Beautiful mama.”

Mary Kate Robertson, who is married to Korie and Willie’s son, John Luke, wrote, “Very excited to meet this baby!”

Jessica and Jep tied the knot in 2001, and aside from Priscilla and Merritt, they also share kids Lily, 22, River, 16, and Gus, 9. The couple rose to reality star fame from the A&E show Duck Dynasty, which aired from 2012 to 2017.
