Dolly Parton Announces She’ll Miss Grand Ole Opry Show Honoring Her 80th Birthday Amid Health Issues

Dolly Parton will not be in attendance at the annual Opry Goes Dolly show.

On Thursday, January 8, the Grand Ole Opry’s official Instagram account shared a sweet video message from the 79-year-old country singer reflecting on the upcoming show in honor of her 80th birthday on Saturday, January 17.

In the video, the “9 to 5” hitmaker looked as glamorous as ever, rocking jeans with yellow trim and a matching yellow and white shirt.

“Well, hey there Grand Ole Opry family, I just wanted to say how much it means to me that you’re all coming together again this year to celebrate my big ol’ birthday with some of my songs,” the 10-time Grammy Award winner said in the video.

“Some of my favorite memories happened right here on stage at the Grand Ole Opry, and I wish I could be there in person, but I’ll be sending you all my love, for sure. So you have the best night ever,” she added.

While Parton herself won’t be at the concert, Lainey Wilson, Rhonda Vincent, Vince Gill, and Trannie Anderson will be there performing “favorites from the ’80s and iconic hits from her legendary catalogue,” according to the Opry’s website.

As Star previously reported, Parton sparked health concerns in September after she cancelled an appearance at a new Dollywood ride due to a kidney stone. A few days later, she took to Instagram and revealed that she had to postpone her six-show Las Vegas residency from December 2025 to September 2026 due to her health.

However, in an October video message, Parton remarked, “I wanted to say I know lately everybody thinks that I am sicker than I am. Do I look sick to you? I’m working hard here!”
