It’s about time! Twelve years after accepting his proposal, Christina Aguilera is finally ready to walk down the aisle with fiancé Matthew Rutler, a source tells Star.
“It has nothing to do with her feelings for Matt or her belief in their love,” the source says of their prolonged engagement. “She [just] has a lot of anxiety about getting married because she does not ever want to go through another divorce.”
The “Genie in a Bottle” singer, 45, was previously wed to music producer Jordan Bratman, with whom she shares 16-year-old son Max.
That being said, “they’ve made it nearly 15 years now,” notes the source, adding that Aguilera and Rutler, 41, have “been through plenty of hard times and they’re still just as in love as they were when they first got engaged, if not more, so there’s really no logical reason to put this off anymore.”

The couple, who met on the set of 2009’s Burlesque and are now parents to 9-year-old daughter Summer, got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2014 after three years of dating.
“Matt has been the most patient man in the world, but of course it bothers him that they still haven’t tied the knot,” the source says of the former production assistant turned MasterClass executive. “He doesn’t care what kind of wedding they have.”
So much so, “if Christina would elope tomorrow, he’d be all for it and she’s now saying that she might want to go that route, just to take the pressure off,” spills the source. “Either way, she wants a big party to celebrate,” and a star-studded one at that!
