Carrie Underwood doesn’t appear to regret stepping back from touring this year.
“She’s perfectly comfortable with her current situation,” a source says of the country star, 43, who splits her time between filming American Idol in Los Angeles and spending time with her family on their 400-acre farm in Tennessee. “She gets to enjoy the best of both worlds … and chasing the dollar can come with plenty of downsides that don’t always make it worthwhile.”
However, “there’s still a feeling in her circle that she’s making too big a sacrifice right now,” reveals the source. “She could be the modern-day Dolly Parton if she decided to take off the handbrake and really go for it with her career. Without doubt, she’d be a shoe-in for TV and movie roles as well as a talk show gig,” especially with Kelly Clarkson’s coming to an end.

Underwood is “already spinning a lot of plates” as it is though, notes the source, balancing her Idol commitments with raising sons Isaiah, 11, and Jacob, 7, with husband Mike Fisher.
“She does put on some concerts too, so from her perspective, all this interest is flattering but those folks who are pushing her to do more are barking up the wrong tree,” the source admits.
The “Jesus, Take the Wheel” singer “will do things at her own pace and no-one’s going to pressure her,” adds the source. “Plus, staying at home more has done wonders for her marriage and if it means turning down work to keep it that way, then it’s a small price to pay.”
