Bruno Mars issued a brief statement on social media after reports emerged that he liked a post on X calling music megastar Taylor Swift “talentless.”
On Sunday, March 15, the “That’s What I Like” singer, 40, took to his X account to respond to a report about him liking the tweet in question to let his followers know that he’s got absolutely no beef with Swift.
“Taylor has always been supportive and kind to me. Only love over here,” he wrote.
The apology comes after a report from Popfaction on Instagram that claimed Mars liked a post falsely claiming to be an official page for the K-pop group BTS that showed a clip of Swift, 36, dancing during her record-breaking Eras Tour. It’s unclear where it originated from.
“Genuinely how did she get famous?” the post reads. “White privilege is crazy because imagine if an Asian was as talentless as her.”
The account noted that Mars had liked the post but had since un-liked it prior to issuing his statement on his own, verified account.
Mars recently dethroned Swift’s 15-week run at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts. His new track, “I Just Might,” finally hit No. 1, toppling Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia from her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, according to Us Weekly.
Despite being in competition for the top spot on the charts, it seems there’s no public animosity between the two. The duo has been photographed together looking friendly numerous times.
