Britney Spears Claims She Has ‘Brain Damage,’ Calls Out ‘Garbage’ Being Said Amid Kevin Federline Memoir

Britney Spears is getting candid about her past trauma.

The 43-year-old pop star — who was in a conservatorship from 2008 until 2021 — took to Instagram on Sunday, October 19, to share a photo of herself on a horse accompanied by a lengthy caption where she claimed she suffered brain damage in the past.

“I had a traumatic experience as some of you know at the end of my book where for 4 months I no longer had my private door and illegally was forced to not use my feet or body to go anywhere,” Spears wrote referring to her 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me. “For a person like me who understands the sacredness is god speed… it did more than hurt my body…”

“I do feel the logic and mindfulness in my body as ONE was 100 percent murdered and destroyed I couldn’t dance or move for 5 months,” Spears wrote in part. “Anyways I know my post and dancing seemed silly but it made me remember how to fly…”

“I do feel like my wings were taken away and brain damage happened to me a long time ago 100 percent,” she added. “I have of course moved on from that troubling time in my life and I’m blessed to be alive…”

The Grammy winner noted she wanted to share this since there is so much being said about her, seemingly referring to the upcoming release of her ex-husband Kevin Federline’s new memoir You Thought You Knew.

“Its fun to tell stories at this point because this all might sound so silly but with what garbage literally is being said about me I said why not bring SUBSTANCE to the table,” she penned in the post.

Federline — who was married to Spears from 2004 to 2007 — has waged a number of accusations against the “Womanizer” hitmaker in his memoir, including that she was “high” in “many” of her dance videos according to an excerpt of the book obtained by Us Weekly.

As Star previously reported, the former backup dancer also alleged that his and Spears’ sons — Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19 — didn’t want to sleep at the singer-songwriter’s house when they were younger out of fear.

“They would awaken sometimes at night to find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep — ‘Oh, you’re awake?’ — with a knife in her hand,” Federline, 47, wrote in his book according to an excerpt obtained by The New York Times. “Then she’d turn around and pad off without explanation.”

A representative for the “Gimme More” singer shared a statement with People on Tuesday, October 14, regarding the book.

“With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin,” the statement read. “All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir [The Woman in Me].”
