Alec Baldwin’s love for his eight children sustained him through a difficult time.
On Wednesday, December 3, the Beetlejuice actor, 67, appeared as a guest on The Adam Friedland Show, discussing how giving his kids love helped him heal after he accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins with a prop gun in 2021, while on set filming the movie Rust. (Baldwin was cleared of all the charges against him in 2024.)
“Having my kids and having all these children, I’m 67 years old, I got a 3-year-old baby, so I got a lot of kids at home, and they saved my life,” he admitted. “You get to the point where you think less about where you get love than where you give love.”

“One of the more frustrating and even painful things in life is [when] you have nobody to give your love to,” the film producer continued. “You might have a lot of love to give in your heart to people. Your parents are gone, what have you, and with my kids, it’s like, I have a lot of love to give, and I have all these kids around me all day long.”
The three-time Golden Globe Award winner also noted he was mainly hunkered down with his family after the incident.
“I wasn’t doing very much for the last three and a half years. I was home all the time, and they saved me,” he remarked. “They saved my life to have that exchange of like, love energy with these children.”
Baldwin, of course, shares seven kids with his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, whom he wed in 2012. He is also a dad to daughter Ireland, 30, whom he shares with his ex-wife Kim Basinger.
