The Incarceration

Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino Sentenced To 8 Months In Prison

The ‘Jersey Shore’ star plead guilty to tax evasion in January.

Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino won’t be lounging with his Jersey Shore friends any time soon. The reality star was just sentenced to eight months in prison and two years probation. He plead guilty to tax fraud earlier this year.

Earlier in the afternoon, his brother Marc was sentenced to two years in prison and one year of probation for his part in the scheme.

Mike, who’s been sober three years, must take one drug test 15 days after his prison release, and two more drug tests following the first. He also has to complete 500 hours community service, and may have to complete drug testing and mental health or addiction treatment. Additionally, the Situation was ordered to $123,913 in restitution, but court said it had already been paid.

Mike, 36, is set to marry Lauren Pesce early next month, before he heads to prison. They celebrated their “Big Italian Engagement Party” last week.

Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi opened up to Jenny McCarthy on her radio show about the pressure the whole cast felt around the sentencing yesterday, October 4.

“Honestly we don’t know what is going to happen tomorrow… so hopefully everything is going to be fine,” she said.

“We’ve been hanging out all week and you can tell the days are coming quicker and he’s getting more nervous,” she explained. “We’re just trying to be there for him, just hang out with him, make him smile a little bit, but it’s terrifying for him.” Cast members Vinny Guadagnino and Jenni “JWOWW” Farley were on hand Friday to support him.

The Situation plead guilty before leaving to film the first season of Jersey Shore Family Vacation, and his impending jail sentence hung over the show. “The incarceration,” Ronnie Ortiz-Magro joked in one episode.

Charges were filed against The Situation and Marc for allegedly failing to pay taxes on millions of dollars of income. Mike plead guilty to one count of tax fraud, while his brother plead guilty to preparing fraudulent tax returns.
