Robin Leach, ‘Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous’ Host, Dies At 76

The veteran journalist suffered from a stroke last year.

Veteran journalist Robin Leach has passed away. The former television host was 76.

Last November, he suffered a stroke in Cabo San Lucas, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, where Robin worked as a celebrity columnist.

Columnist John Katsilometes announced the sad news on Twitter. “Sad to report the death of famed celeb reporter, friend and colleague #RobinLeach @ 1:50 a.m. in #LasVegas. He would have been 77 Wednesday. He suffered a second stroke Monday. He in hospice care. He’d been hospitalized since Nov. 21, after suffering a stroke in Cabo San Lucas.” He passed on Thursday, August 23.

“Despite the past 10 months, what a beautiful life he had. Our Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle and friend Robin Leach passed away peacefully last night at 1:50 a.m.,” his family said in a statement. “Everyone’s support and love over the past, almost one year, has been incredible and we are so grateful. Memorial arrangements to follow. With love, Steven, Gregg and Rick Leach.”

Robin got his start at Star and was a columnist for the magazine.

Robin was best known for hosting Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous for over a decade. The show profiled celebrities and showed their lavish houses, fancy cars, and other extravagant accoutrements. He ended each episode with a wish for viewers that became his trademark: “champagne wishes and caviar dreams.”

Robin was born in London in 1942 and immigrated to America in 1963. In the beginning of his career, he appeared on Los Angeles television news with Regis Philbin. He has lived in Las Vegas since 1999.

Episodes of Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous featured everyone from Elizabeth Taylor to Sophia Loren, from Dolly Parton to Dolph Lundgren, from Jane Fonda to Hulk Hogan.
