Chrissy Teigen and her hubby, musician John Legend, 38, were spotted holding hands at LAX. The pair is just back from a romantic vacation in Italy where the model was noticeably not drinking at the first Chase Sapphire Sundays: Brunch with Chrissy Teigen event. Guests at Venice’s Rose Café sipped rosé wine and cocktails garnished with rose petals while the hostess herself sipped…Red Bull!

Chrissy’s odd choice of beverage may have had less to do with fatigue and more to do with her recent admission to having a problem with alcohol. In an interview with Cosmopolitan magazine, the 31-year-old model candidly confessed, “I was, point blank, just drinking too much.” She went on to explain, “I got used to being in hair and makeup and having a glass of wine. Then that glass of wine would carry over into me having one before the awards show. And then a bunch at the awards show. And then I felt bad for making kind of an ass of myself to people that I really respected. And that feeling, there’s just nothing like that. You feel horrible. It’s not a good look for me, for John, for anybody.”

Chrissy, who has been a spokesperson for both Captain Morgan and Smirnoff, has a family history of alcohol abuse and has admitted that she isn’t the kind of person who can stop after one drink. Chrissy has been open about her struggles with anxiety and post partum depression, two conditions about which she told Cosmopolitan, “Alcohol is like the last thing that helps.”

The couple is hoping to expand their family soon and plans to begin the process of IVF after their summer full of travel with 16-month-old baby Luna Simone Stephens. Before the Venice trip they visited Bali where the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue alum went alcohol-free at a wellness retreat. It may not be so easy for her to maintain sobriety now that she’s back in Los Angeles, but Chrissy seems determined to give it a try. “I used to think it was kind of nutty to have to go totally sober,” she said, “But now I get it. I don’t want to be that person…I have to fix myself.”
