There wasn’t much to smile about on the set of Daddy’s Home 2 as hothead Mel Gibson tried to steal the limelight from star Will Ferrell.
“Mel’s part was pretty small, but Mel killed it and tried to get more screen time — at Will’s expense,” whispers an on-set source, adding that the SNL legend was seething over Mel’s mutiny: “He flat-out told Will, ‘I’m funnier than you are,’ and honestly the cast and crew agreed — Mel has great comedic timing.”
Now, even after filming has wrapped, the costars are barely speaking — let alone sharing a chuckle: “Will’s not used to playing second fiddle,” says the spy. “He’s dreading all of the great reviews Mel is going to get.”
