OJ Simpson Granted Parole After Serving Nine Years In Prison

The former NFL star could be released as early as October 2017.

OJ Simpson was granted parole Thursday, July 20, by four members of the Nevada Board of Parole in a court hearing. The former NFL player is set to be released in October 2017. He served nearly nine years behind bars for armed robbery that took place in 2007.

At the hearing OJ, 70, spoke on his own behalf. His daughter, Arnelle Simpson, and sister, Shirley Baker, spoke as well while friend, Tom Scotto, was there for support.

Commissioner Connie Bisbee told Simpson, “We do not look kindly on parole violations, and if I cast my vote to grant and it concludes the hearing, our expectation would be that you not violate even the simplest condition of parole.”

There are no details as of yet about the conditions of his parole, but they should be released shortly.
