TLC may have wrapped their The Main Event tour with New Kids On The Block over the summer, but that doesn’t mean Chilli hasn’t been busy! Star caught up with the 44-year-old mom to get an update on what she’s working on!
Starmagazine.com: You’re working with Cize on a special “Dance With Chilli” program. Is there a TLC routine you’d like to share with Beachbody?
Chilli: “I would have to say the “What About Your Friends” routine. The [Beachbody] tracks are just full of energy and the routines are just so much fun, and the way we dance is very different. We don’t dance like girly, we’re like prissy tomboys. We dance kinda hard. And those routines are just so much fun, and of course we [TLC] have the signature “What About Your Friends” dance that everybody knows when the hook comes around. Michael Jackson did it in “Remember The Time” — and when I saw him do that I almost passed out! I was like ‘Michael Jackson is doing our dance — are you kidding me?’. I was so excited.”
Chilli: “I don’t know. I haven’t seen her in a long time and we’re all cool, that’s for sure, but if it makes sense to involve her, yeah, so we’ll have to see. But I won’t say no to that.”
Starmagazine.com: How did you feel about Keke Palmer playing you in the CrazySexyCool movie?
Chilli: “I thought she did a good job. When we were going through casting and stuff like that, we just wanted to make sure that the actresses hung out with us and kinda got a chance to see how we interact and channel that. Lil Mama definitely knocked the ball out of the park with her portrayal of Lisa. She did really good because she had to count on Tionne and I to give her all the information about Lisa.”
Starmagazine.com: Do you have any updates on your new album?
Chilli: “Yeah! We finally came up with a title for the album. I can’t tell you, but we did and so we’re happy! It’ll definitely for sure come out this year, I just don’t know when. It just depends on how the songs continue to come along, because we’re not going to put out anything that we feel is not quality TLC music. The fans won’t like that! They’ll be upset!”
Starmagazine.com: Would you go on tour again after this album?
Chilli: “Oh definitely! The tour we had this past summer with New Kids on the Block and Nelly was very sucessful, and so much fun! The fans were just amazing — I mean every night it was just — oh gosh! Plus touring is my favorite thing to do. I could just totally live on stage. As a matter of fact, we had a show recently in Calgary and I went crowd-surfing! So I was really, really proud of myself! I was so excited!”
