The Kardashians really know how to set things off.
For James Harden’s 26th birthday, newly divorced Khloé Kardashian decided to give her new man a personal fireworks display. But the fireworks weren’t the only things that were blowing up that night. The surprise show began at the stroke of midnight over Marina del Rey, CA, waking up—and angering—thousands of residents. Oops?
Residents and city officials were shocked to discover that Khloé did not need a permit to set off the fireworks and were given the OK from the Coast Guard on the safety of the display. But that wasn’t enough to settle the issue.
Reportedly, twelve homeowners from the area plan to file a small claims court lawsuit against Khloé and Kris—each demanding $7,500, which is the max allowed for small claims in California. Could these neighbors—some of whom are celebs themselves —just be hungry for money? Those suing say they’re not looking to cash in on the Kardashians. Instead, it’s about confronting the fam and letting them know that their explosive display was selfish and caused emotional distress.
This isn’t the first time that members of the klan have caused disturbances. All the sisters have been reported to annoy their neighbors with acts of reckless partying and other late night commotion. Most recently, however, it was Caitlyn Jenner who had upset her Malibu neighborhood while doing a heavy home renovation, which included constructing a dune-buggy track and driving like a maniac.
Looks like the Kardashians and Jenners wouldn’t be a selling point for any retail property—no matter how famous they are.
