One would think that Kanye West’s antics and rants would mellow a bit after having become a family man, but apparently that is far from the case. In fact, from his display during the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards on August 30, Ye is just getting started on what appears to be a whole new level of ratchetness.
The Vanguard Award recipient outdid himself when, in addition to admitting he was high on national television, and fake sleeping during Taylor Swift’s Best Female Video win, he announced that he would be running for President in 2020!
It all began as a feud squashing love fest, when Taylor spoke to the crowd about Yeezy, before presenting him with his prestigious award, briefly acknowledging their “Bad Blood” post 2009’s VMA mic-grabbing debacle.
The 25-year-old singer even revealed that “The College Dropout” was the first album she and her brother ever purchased on iTunes, and that she’s been a fan of Kanye’s for as long as she could remember.
Joking to all the winners of the night that “Imma let you finish”, Taylor playfully mocked Ye’s famously contemptuous statement to her years ago, before declaring that he’s had “one of the greatest careers of all time.”
North West’s dad began his acceptance speech with humility, questioning whether he would’ve ruined the “Blank Space” singer’s moment back in 2009, if he’d been a father at the time, saying he was “disrespectful” and “didn’t know how to say the right thing.”
And although he never actually apologized, the “All Day” rapper appeared sincere in his delivery. That is, until things went left, as he quickly launched into a cryptic, rambling, preachy tirade, claiming halfway through that yes, “I rolled up a little something, I knocked the edge off” in response to the audience possibly wondering if he was high.
During the 38-year-old rapper’s bi-polar-esque rant, the camera panned to his bafflingly braless pregnant wife Kim Kardashian, whose frozen smile did not deviate, despite her husband neglecting to acknowledge her existence even once during his speech.
And to top it all off, mere moments after declaring he was “not a politician,” the whole sordid mess ended with the deluded entertainer’s future bid for candidacy:
“And yes, as you probably could’ve guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for President.” Mic. Drop.
The Kardashian / Jenner clan appeared to be all for Mr. West’s race to the white house, taking to Instagram to show their full support, soon after the disturbing announcement.
Despite his notoriously off the wall behavior, it is doubtful that anyone could’ve predicted this turn of events, even from Mr. “Jesus Walks” himself – but if he is serious, this will certainly be the most entertaining campaign in history.
