In a classic case of trading one beef for another, Nicki Minaj shocked and awed the crowd when she came for Miley Cyrus, only minutes after making nice with Taylor Swift at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards on August 30.

Taylor, 25, joined The “Anaconda” rapper onstage to perform “The Night Is Still Young” and the pair wore coordinating sparkly red outfits, displaying to the world that all remnants of ill-will have since dissolved. During a short-lived feud last month, Nikki felt a way about not being nominated for video of the year, tweeting “If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for video of the year.” Taylor promptly took offense, assuming the ‘slim body’ in question was hers, saying “I’ve done nothing but love and support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.”

The two entertainers have since apologized to one another via twitter, admitting it was all a misunderstanding, solidifying their solidarity with a girl power VMA performance—even launching into a verse of Swift’s “Bad Blood” while playfully throwing each other the stink-eye.

But all’s well didn’t quite end well with the 32-year-old rapper, as she switched gears minutes later, targeting a stunned and frazzled Miley Cyrus while accepting her Moonman for Best Hip Hop video for “Anaconda.” Immediately after thanking her pastor, things got pretty unholy, as Nikki turned to the 22-year-old “Wrecking Ball” singer and went in, saying “Back to this b—ch that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press – Miley, what’s good?!”.
The bootylicious artist was referring, of course, to the comments Miley made in the New York Times in response to her and Taylor’s mini twitter war, saying, among other things, ”What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It’s not very polite. I think there’s a way you speak to people with openness and love.”

Visibly shaken and audibly exasperated, Miley’s response was classy, though she may have back-pedalled just a tad, when she said, “We’re all in this industry, we all do interviews and we all know how they manipulate s—t. Nicki, Congratuf—kinglations.”.

Despite suspicion that the rift was staged, reportedly “the anger was very real and not a pre-planned bit at all.”

So, now the wait begins—who’s going to be first from this duo to write a nasty song about the other?
