A lot of hype led up to the I Am Cait premiere on July 26, but the rating numbers left Caitlyn Jenner very upset, according to RadarOnline insiders.
After the Keeping Up With The Kardashians “About Bruce” aired in May brought in 4.2 million watchers—then Diane Sawyer‘s interview with Bruce brought 17 million viewers—it makes sense why Caitlyn expected a big debut with higher ratings than her ex Kris Jenner. But the newly transitioned reality star fell short—only garnering 2.7 million viewers for I Am Cait, according to Nielsen ratings.
“Caitlyn is unhappy with the numbers, and hates losing to Kris Jenner, and the rest of the Kardashian family. There has been tremendous pressure on Caitlyn, and she feels that she has let the transgender community down,” an insider tells Radar.
What’s more, Caitlyn hasn’t been exactly thrilled with the way E! is teasing her show with short clips of the episodes, the source adds. And she’s not the only one frustrated—”E! is also frustrated with Caitlyn because she hasn’t done any press to promote the show. This was supposed to be a ratings blockbuster for E! and a lot of money has been invested in it.”
Perhaps one of the reasons the show isn’t skyrocketing is “a lot of fatigue on behalf of the public,” dishes a family source. “She should have waited until later this year to do a reality show. Live as a woman and deal with the legal consequences of the fatal car crash. Caitlyn didn’t want to listen to her kids’ advice, and this is why some of them, including Bart and Brody won’t participate in the show.”
