It’s not easy being the newest public figure in the transgender community—needless to say, Caitlyn Jenner has a lot on her mind.
In a sneak preview from the July 26 season premiere episode of I Am Cait, Caitlyn admits that she is having some serious sleep problems. She has explained that she wants to be a good role model for the transgender community, and do her part to help, and the pressure is keeping her from getting her beauty sleep.
An exhausted, makeup-free Caitlyn sits up in bed at 4:32 a.m. and films herself saying that she feels “bad that these [people]—especially young people—are going through such a difficult time in their life. We don’t want people dying over this. We don’t want people murdered over this stuff. What a responsibility I have towards this community. Am I doing everything right? Am I going to say the right things? Do I project the right image? My mind’s just spinning with thoughts. I hope I get it right.” These are some of the same concerns she voiced in the powerful, tear-jerking speech she delivered when receiving the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYs on July 15.
But Caitlyn’s family has shown constant support for her efforts—Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Kris Jenner etc., and is being called an inspiration. She used her platform at the ESPY Awards to call for acceptance and shine a spotlight on trans issues.
I Am Cait premieres on E! on Sunday, July 26 at 8pm ET.
