NBC executives may be closing the curtain on Neil Patrick Harris’ upcoming variety show, in the wake of his disastrous turn hosting the Oscars this year.
“NBC is considering cutting some of the 10 episodes or canceling the show altogether, since it would be more of the singing, jokes and pranks that bombed at the Oscars,” a network insider reveals.
The ratings for this year’s Academy Awards were the worst since 2009 — and Neil is taking it personally. “I don’t know that my family nor my soul could take [hosting again],” he said.
But the fallout may not be over yet. “He’s really depressed,” the insider adds. “He’s used to being loved. If his new show is pulled from the schedule, it’ll break his heart.”
