Just like their Gossip Girl characters, Penn Badgley and Blake Lively dated…and subsequently broke up…all while filming the hit CW show. Of course, the split could’ve lead to some awkward moments while their characters were still playing love interests on-set!
While appearing on Watch What Happens Live, the actor was asked to name his best and worst onscreen kiss, and named his now-ex-girlfriend as both. “It’s hard to say, onscreen kisses aren’t really real,” he explained. “I’ll say best…I’ll say Blake, because we actually had a relationship at the time. And then the worst? Maybe Blake after we broke up.”
The pair dated until 2010, but Gossip Girl continued until 2012, and in the end, their characters, Dan and Serena, got married. “We were consummately professional, to be honest,” Penn admitted. “I think we should both pat ourselves on the back for getting through it. Anything is complicated in that way, and we handled it.”
Now, the actress is married to Ryan Reynolds, and the couple just welcomed a daughter at the end of 2014. She’s certainly come a long way from those Gossip Girl days…
