The news is finally official, but as Star readers know, Bruce Jenner’s decision to become a woman has been in the works for years. And now that the cat’s out of the bag, Bruce is happily planning his new life — complete with a new name!
Star has learned that Bruce wants to be known as Belinda after he finishes transitioning. “Inside, he has always been Belinda,” explains a source close to the 65-year-old. “He has been planning this transformation for such a long time.”
In 2013, Star first broke the news of Bruce’s decision to become a woman, and while ex-wife Kris Jenner denied our reports in numerous publications, the former Olympian’s actions said otherwise. In January 2014, he underwent a “laryngeal shave” in order too smooth out his Adam’s apple — often said to be the first step in gender reassignment surgery. He went on to make more noticeable changes to his appearance, from painting his nails to shaving his legs to undergoing what appeared to be medical procedures to make his shape curvier.
Now, Bruce has begun telling family members about his plan, and according to the source, Kris has put up the biggest fight — even though, Star has learned, she was well aware of his transgender orientation when they got married. “She knew what he was all about, but he was her trophy husband,” says the insider. “He had told people before he even met Kris that he wanted to undergo the process of transitioning, but she talked him out of it.”
Now that sources close to Bruce have confirmed that he is, in fact, becoming a woman, the father of six felt an overwhelming sense of relief. “He has such a sense of freedom now,” the insider reveals. “He doesn’t need to hide anymore.”
